German scientists beat the record for data transmission speed. Berlin, May 23 () .- The Technological Institute of Karlsruhe (southwest Germany) announced today that one of its scientific equipment rcord has managed to beat the world speed of data transmission , to reach 26 terabits per second.
The research center says it has achieved that speed, equivalent to the capacity of DVD 700 to second, moving the data into a laser beam through, wow power leveling, a encriptacin new data system developed by the physical Aleman Jrg Leuthold.
"We have built an optical processor that takes data and converts a light signal," Leuthold explained at a press conference.
Once at the destination, aadi the scientist, a second optical processor decrypts the signal.
The researchers argued that technological development and computer science requires increasing data transmission speed, with the growth of, wow power leveling, audiovisual broadcasts live or the construction of communication networks.
According to the German scientists, his is another step on the way to the so-called Internet-terabit, a network of networks where possible the transmission of vast amounts of data at high speed .
Thus, the research team has succeeded in overcoming their own rcord, set last year when transmitting data at 10 terabits per second.
