Former dictator Desi Bouterse was elected president of Suriname.
Castries, July 19 .- The former dictator Desi Bouterse, who is facing trial for the 1982 murder of 15 opponents to his regime, was today elected President of Suriname by the parliament with 36 votes in favor and 13 against, according to local media .
